WHAT DO WE DO?

Anatolian people have been using plants found in nature for medicinal purposes for approximately 52,000 years, since the Old Stone Age (Paleolithic Era). Today, at least 500 plant species growing in Turkey are used for medicinal purposes.

These plants, belonging to the Labiatae family, include the species origanum, thymus, satureja, coridothymus, and thymbra, commonly known as wild thyme, savory, and oregano.

The Origanum family, in addition to its use for hygiene purposes, has also been mentioned in some sacred texts for its effectiveness against epidemics and skin diseases.

Seventy percent of the Origanum and Thymus species, which are quite rich in carvacrol, are endemic. It is stated that there are 52 species of Origanum identified worldwide, and 22% of these species grow in our country.
